The 2300 W rating is the continuous power the resistor can dissipate without exceeding its thermal limit. In a braking cycle, the resistor sees short bursts at much higher peak power — the 2.5 Ohm value sets the current drawn from the DC bus at a given voltage (I = V/R), so it determines the braking torque the drive can produce. Matching the resistance to the drive's braking transistor rating is critical: too low a resistance and the transistor sees overcurrent; too high and braking torque drops. The physical footprint (545 x 385 x 410 mm) also governs where it mounts — this is a panel-floor or cabinet-top resistor, not a DIN-rail component.
