The Schneider Electric VW3M3103 is an LXM05 holding brake controller rated for 50 W, designed to supply and time the voltage to a servo motor's holding brake. It runs on a 24 V DC supply (19.2...30 V limits) and delivers an output that steps from 23...25 V down to 17...19 V after 1000 ms, reducing heat dissipation in the brake coil once the motor is mechanically stopped.
Brake current and timing
Braking current draw is up to 1.6 A, so confirm the attached brake coil's rating stays under that ceiling. The 1000 ms hold time before voltage reduction gives the drive time to settle the axis before the brake seats — critical on vertical loads where premature drop could drift. Input current of 0.5 A plus the brake nominal current means the total load on the 24 V bus includes both the controller overhead and the brake pull. Mounts on a 2.2 in (55 mm) symmetrical DIN rail and carries an IP20 finger-safe enclosure. At 50 W maximum dissipation, ensure adequate ventilation.
