The TELEMECANIQUE XS218SANAM12 is a cylindrical inductive proximity sensor from the XS2 series. It's built for wet and harsh environments — IP67 and IP69K rating means it handles high-pressure washdown, and the stainless steel 316L body resists corrosion. Unshielded sensing face gives you a maximum 15 mm range on an M18 threaded barrel, stepping down to 8 mm minimum detection distance if you adjust sensitivity. The output circuit is NPN normally open, rated 200 mA load at 12-24V DC. Three wires plus a 4-pin M12 male connector make for quick swap-out — direct connect, no separate pigtail. M18 threaded barrel, unshielded. Requires clearance for full 15 mm range. M12 male connector, 4-pin. Pin-out is standard for NPN 3-wire: brown (power), blue (ground), black (output), and the fourth pin is unused in most cases but check your specific cable assembly. The LED indicator is visible through the side window, so angle the sensor so you can see it from the access side — saves chasing false triggers.
