What this sensor is
The XS618B1PAM12 is an M18 threaded shielded inductive proximity sensor from the XS6 series, delivering a PNP normally-open discrete output through a 4-pin M12 connector. It operates on 12-48V DC and is rated for a sensing distance of 4 to 8 mm, depending on the target material and environment.
The shielded sensing face allows flush mounting in metal without derating the maximum 8 mm sensing distance — important when the sensor must sit level with a machine surface. IP67 and IP69K ratings mean it survives both temporary submersion and high-pressure, high-temperature washdown cycles, making it a candidate for food processing or automotive paint lines. The 200 mA load current limit on the PNP output covers the majority of PLC digital inputs and small relays directly, no additional interposing relay required. Compliance listings include CE, CSA, RoHS, and UL Listed, covering most North American and European panel requirements.
Fit in an existing panel
For a panel spec'd around the XS4P18AB110, the XS618B1PAM12 will not drop in without rewiring: the connector type (M12 vs. bare wire), output circuit (PNP digital vs. analog), and number of wires (3 vs. 2) are all different. A full harness and I/O card change would be required.
