Rectangular block, side-sensing, 2 mm range
The XS7G12MA230 is a shielded inductive proximity sensor in a rectangular plastic housing measuring 12 mm wide by 26 mm deep by 40 mm high. It senses from the side face, not the end, so plan your mounting bracket and target approach accordingly — this isn't a barrel sensor you thread into a hole. Sensing distance is 2 mm on mild steel. That's a short range, typical for flush-mounted shielded sensors where you need detection of small parts or precise positioning — think cam detection on a conveyor or end-of-stroke on a pneumatic cylinder. The 2-wire NO output works with both AC and DC control circuits, switching loads from 5 mA up to 200 mA. The yellow LED on the body gives you a visual confirmation the target is detected — handy during commissioning or troubleshooting without needing a meter.
Supply voltage and switching frequency — one sensor, two speeds
Operating voltage spans 20 to 264 VAC/VDC, so it works on 24 VDC control panels, 120 VAC lines, or 230 VAC industrial circuits without a separate power supply. That wide range is the main reason to pick this over a DC-only sensor — one part number covers multiple panel voltages. Switching frequency depends on the supply type: 25 Hz on AC, 250 Hz on DC. If you're running it on AC, the 25 Hz ceiling means it won't catch fast-moving targets — a part passing at 30 cycles per second will be missed. On DC, 250 Hz handles most conveyor and indexing applications fine. The 2-meter PVR cable is pre-wired and sealed, so no field wiring to a connector — just strip, terminate, and go. The cable jacket is rated for the IP67 seal at the sensor body, so the whole assembly is washdown-ready.
