The Siemens 3RT2046-3KB44-3MA0 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor in size S3, designed to switch loads in control panels via a 24 VDC coil. The spring-type terminals on the coil accept solid conductors 2.5 to 16 mm² and stranded up to 70 mm² — no tool needed for the control wiring, which speeds up panel build and eliminates screw torque variation. Rated auxiliary switching capacity at 24 V is 10 A, dropping to 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V — so the same auxiliary contact block handles mixed-voltage control circuits without derating surprises. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward. That means it fits into tight enclosures or odd-angle subpanels without forced air routing.
Clearance and integration
The contactor body is 140 mm high, 70 mm wide, 152 mm deep. Main contacts: 2 normally open (NO). Auxiliary contacts are present, and the auxiliary wiring accepts 2x (0.5 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded.
Switching performance and environmental limits
Maximum switching frequencies: 900 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 850 at AC-3 and AC-3e (squirrel-cage motors), 350 at AC-2 (slip-ring motors), and 250 at AC-4 (plugging/inching). Coil inrush peaks at 2.7 A; dropout delay on DC is 38 to 57 ms. Shock resistance: 16.3 g for 5 ms (AC) and 10 g for 10 ms. Coil pickup threshold: initial value 0.8 (80% of rated voltage), full-scale value 1.2 (120%) — so it pulls in reliably down to 19.2 VDC and holds through transients up to 28.8 VDC.
