Breaking capacity and derating
The 3VA1040-3ED32-0AC0: Breaking capacity is voltage-dependent: 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. This covers most low-voltage distribution fault levels; the 690 V figure is lower, so verify SCCR for 690 V panels. Thermal derating is minimal through 50 °C — the breaker holds full 40 A. At 55 °C it drops to 38.4 A, then linearly to 36 A at 70 °C. No derating needed for typical 40 °C panel ambient.
Panel integration and auxiliary contacts
Dimensions are 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm high, 70 mm deep — fits standard 3-pole MCCB panel cutouts. Front protection is IP40, suitable for enclosed distribution boards. Comes with 2 HQ auxiliary switches built in (auxiliary contact version 2 auxiliary switches HQ). No undervoltage release, no shunt trip, no ground-fault module — it's a straight thermal-magnetic breaker with signaling contacts.
