What this 4-pole MCCB delivers
The Siemens 3VA1050-3ED42-0AA0 is a SENTRON 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated at 50 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM210 thermal-magnetic release. It carries 75.6 kA breaking capacity at 240 V and 52.5 kA at 415 V, dropping to 32 kA at 440 V and 7.5 kA at 500 V and 690 V. The 4-pole design makes it suitable for three-phase plus neutral protection in distribution panels or as a main breaker in industrial switchboards.
Thermal derating matters in a hot control room
Rated 50 A up to 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 49 A, at 60 °C to 48 A, at 65 °C to 46 A, and at 70 °C to 45 A. In a cement plant control room that runs 50–55 °C near the kiln, that derating is real — you lose 1–2 A of headroom. The 14.6 W maximum power loss adds to the enclosure heat load; factor it into the panel cooling calc.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 101.6 mm width, 70 mm depth. That 70 mm depth is shallow enough for a 200 mm deep enclosure — leaves room for wiring gutters and a second row of terminals. IP40 on the front means it's sealed against tools and fingers but not dust; in a dusty environment, mount it behind a gasketed door or in a sealed sub-panel. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, and the maximum DC operational voltage is 600 V, so it can handle battery-bank or DC-bus protection in the same footprint.
