63 A MCCB with TM210 release — what the ratings mean for the panel
The Siemens 3VA1163-3ED26-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous duty, confirmed across the full 40 °C to 50 °C ambient range with no derating needed. At 55 °C it holds 62 A, at 70 °C it still carries 58 A — so a panel running warm near the top of a cabinet still gets full 63 A protection without upsizing the frame. The interrupting ratings are where this 2-pole unit earns its place in a distribution board: 75.6 kA at 240 V and 52.5 kA at 415 V. That SCCR covers most commercial and light industrial fault levels without requiring a current-limiting upstream breaker. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release is fixed at 630 A instantaneous (li), so it clears hard faults fast while the thermal element handles overloads on the inverse-time curve. Footprint is 70 mm deep by 50.8 mm wide by 130 mm tall — a compact 2-pole that fits standard DIN-rail or panel-mount layouts. The front face carries IP40 protection, suitable for enclosed distribution boards where tools-only access is expected.
Integration into the panel
Mounts on DIN rail or direct panel surface. The 70 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars. Rated insulation voltage is 500 V. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage from -40 °C to +80 °C. The power loss at full load is 11.54 W maximum — negligible for thermal budgeting in a crowded cabinet, but worth noting if multiple breakers are ganged in a sealed enclosure.
