Breaking capacity and selectivity
The 3VA1332-7EE32-0AA0: The 440 kA at 240 V AC is the headline interrupting rating — this breaker can clear a fault up to that level without rupturing. At 415 V and 440 V it still holds 242 kA, and at 690 V it drops to 17 kA. For a 480 V delta panel, the relevant figure is the 242 kA at 440 V, which covers most industrial service-entrance requirements. The TM220 overcurrent release provides thermal-magnetic protection: the thermal element handles overloads up to the 320 A frame, and the magnetic element responds to short-circuit currents.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated current holds at 320 A from 40 °C through 50 °C (–), then derates linearly to 292 A at 70 °C. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. The 80.1 W maximum power loss should be factored into enclosure thermal calculations, especially in a sealed panel.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 138 mm wide, 248 mm high, 110 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or screw-mount installation in a distribution board. IP40 on the front means protection against tools and wires >1 mm, but the breaker is not sealed against moisture; install in an indoor rated enclosure. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it can be used in 690 V systems with appropriate coordination.
