What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2216-5HL32-0KL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection — meaning it sits at the feeder or main distribution point, not on a motor branch. Three poles, 160 A continuous current at 40 °C, with an ETU320 electronic trip unit. The 187 kA interrupting rating at 240 V AC tells you it can clear a fault up to that level without the arc re-striking or the case rupturing; at 415 V it still holds 121 kA. That kind of SCCR headroom is what you want when the transformer is big and the fault current is ugly.
Ratings that drive the panel fit
Width 105 mm, depth 86 mm, height 181 mm — that footprint matches the standard SENTRON 3VA2 frame. It mounts on a DIN rail or bolts directly into a panel bus. The 160 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C, then derates to 154 A at 55 °C and 136 A at 70 °C. If your enclosure runs hot, that derating curve is what you size the breaker against, not the nameplate 160 A.
