Rated current and thermal derating
The 3VM1340-5EE32-0AA0: The breaker is rated 400 A continuous at 40 °C ambient, and it holds that rating through 50 °C. At 55 °C it derates to 392 A, dropping to 367 A at 70 °C. That means in a warm panel — say 55 °C internal ambient — you lose 8 A per pole; plan the load accordingly if you're pushing the 400 A bus.
Interrupting capacity — what the numbers mean for panel coordination
At 240 V AC it interrupts 187 kA; at 415/440 V AC it's 121 kA; at 500 V AC it's 76 kA. These are the maximum fault currents the breaker can safely clear — critical for SCCR compliance downstream. If your transformer or generator can deliver 150 kA at 480 V, this breaker at 500 V (76 kA) won't be enough; step up to a higher interrupting-rated frame.
Physical fit and panel integration
The 3-pole frame measures 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall, 110 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint for 400 A class. Front face is IP40, so it's fine inside a closed panel but not for washdown areas. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module; it's a basic thermal-magnetic breaker for feeder protection.
