The Siemens SIDAC 4EU2532-0AB00-4CA0 is a 3-phase output reactor (also called an output choke) rated for 24 A at 50 Hz with a switching frequency of 8 kHz and an inductance of 0.0023 H (2.3 mH). It sits between a variable-frequency drive and the motor to limit the rate of voltage rise (dV/dt) and reduce peak voltages that can stress motor windings — especially on long cable runs or with older motor insulation. The IP00 enclosure means it is an open-frame component intended for inside a panel; the free cable endings (free conductor ends) require the installer to terminate them in a junction box or terminal block within the cabinet.
The 24 A maximum current (Ithmax 1) at 50 Hz sets the continuous motor-load this reactor can handle. That 24 A figure is the thermal current rating — it governs the reactor's ability to carry the fundamental motor current without exceeding its thermal class H insulation (rated for 180 °C hot-spot per IEC 60085). The 8 kHz switching frequency matches the typical carrier frequency of modern IGBT-based drives; at this frequency the reactor presents enough impedance to limit high-frequency current ripple and reduce common-mode noise coupling into the motor cable. The 2.3 mH inductance value determines the dV/dt reduction — a higher inductance gives more smoothing but also increases voltage drop at the fundamental frequency. The rated ambient temperature of 40 °C is the reference point; above that, the iron-core losses (67.2 W) and coil losses (67 W total power loss) will increase, so derating may be needed if the panel ambient runs hotter.
Physical integration and thermal management
At 0.22 m wide, 0.21 m tall, and 0.16 m deep, the reactor occupies a moderate footprint on the panel backplate. The IP00 open-frame design means it must be mounted inside an enclosure that provides the required ingress protection for the overall system. The free cable endings (free conductor ends) are not pre-terminated — the installer supplies the appropriate ring lugs or ferrules for the terminal block. With 67 W of total power loss (coil + iron core), the reactor generates noticeable heat. In a sealed cabinet, forced ventilation or a larger enclosure volume may be needed to keep the ambient temperature at or below the 40 °C rating, especially if the drive and other heat sources are nearby. The thermal class H insulation (180 °C) gives headroom for short-duration overloads, but the continuous rating assumes the 40 °C ambient.
