Commutating choke for converter duty
The Siemens 4EU2522-0AA00-0AA0 is a 3-phase commutating choke (also called a line reactor or converter choke) rated for 400 V AC, 50/60 Hz. The inductance is 0.22 mH with a relative inductive voltage drop of 4% at rated conditions. This choke limits di/dt and reduces harmonic distortion on the line side of a 3-phase converter — essential for protecting drive input rectifiers and meeting IEEE 519 harmonic limits in industrial plants. The 4% impedance is a common choice for general-purpose drive applications; it smooths the current waveform without excessive voltage drop under load.
Thermal and physical fit
Rated for a 40°C ambient with thermal class H insulation (180°C continuous withstand). That means it takes the radiant heat near a drive cabinet or motor control center without derating — a solid fit for a hot mill or foundry environment. Dimensions are 0.225 m wide by 0.21 m tall by 0.16 m deep. Connection is via flat-type terminals (bus-bar or flat-cable lugs). The power loss splits between the coil (131 W) and the iron core (64 W), totaling 195 W — plan for that heat dissipation in the enclosure sizing.
