The Autonics BUP-30S-P is a U-slot through-beam photoelectric sensor from the BUP series, delivering a 30 mm sensing distance with a minimum detectable object of just 1.5 mm diameter opaque. It operates on 12-24V DC with a PNP output, switching at up to 55 Hz with a 1 msec response time. The IP66-rated plastic housing and prewired 2 m cable make it suitable for washdown environments in packaging, material handling, and assembly lines where reliable part-presence detection is needed in tight spaces.
The 30 mm sensing range is the maximum gap between the transmitter and receiver faces — the sensor detects an object anywhere within that span. The 1.5 mm minimum object size means it catches small parts like O-rings, pins, or bottle caps passing through the slot. The 55 Hz switching frequency and 1 msec response time keep up with fast-moving lines; at typical conveyor speeds, it can detect parts spaced a few millimeters apart without missing a beat. The selectable Light On/Dark On mode gives flexibility: wire it for light-on to detect the presence of an object breaking the beam, or dark-on to detect the absence (e.g., a missing cap on a bottle). The U-slot body style (59 x 59 x 20 mm) with a 30 mm slot depth mounts directly around a moving web, belt, or rail — no separate brackets needed for the emitter and receiver. The prewired 2 m cable with bare ends terminates into a terminal block or M12 connector field-wired by the panel builder.
