The AS00SCM-A is a serial communication module from the AS series, classified as SCM (Serial Communication Module). It provides RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 connectivity, drawing 0.6 W from the backplane. Two such modules can be installed in the AS CPU rack, giving you serial drops for HMI links, barcode scanners, drives, or legacy RS-485 daisy chains without consuming a separate power supply slot.
The 0.6 W internal consumption means the module adds negligible thermal load to the CPU enclosure — no derating needed even in a densely populated rack. The RS-232/422/485 support covers point-to-point and multi-drop topologies; RS-485 is the usual choice for longer runs or multiple devices on a single pair. Two slots per CPU mean you can run a Modbus RTU fieldbus on one module and a dedicated barcode reader on the other, keeping the protocols isolated.
