Drive sizing and input power
The Delta VFD150B43B is a VFD-B series variable frequency drive rated for 20 HP (15 kW) motor output on a 3-phase 380 to 480 V supply. The 32 A rated output current and 24.4 kVA output capacity size it for a standard 20 HP induction motor on a conveyor or pump load. Input current draws 25 A at full load, so plan branch circuit protection accordingly — the drive's voltage tolerance of ±10% (342 to 528 V) and frequency tolerance of ±5% (47 to 63 Hz) cover most industrial mains fluctuations without derating.
Output frequency range and carrier
Output frequency spans 0.1 to 400 Hz, covering both standard 60 Hz motor nameplates and high-speed spindle applications. The carrier frequency is adjustable from 1 to 15 kHz — run it at 4 kHz for general-purpose motor loads to balance audible noise against drive losses; drop to 2 kHz for long motor cable runs over 50 m to reduce reflected-wave stress on the motor insulation.
