The SIEN-M5B-NS-K-L is an M5 flush-mount inductive proximity sensor from the SIEN series, rated for 800 µm sensing distance with a 40 µm repeat accuracy. The NPN normally-open output switches at up to 3 kHz, making it suited for counting or position-sensing applications where the target passes at high speed. The 800 µm range means the sensor must be positioned within that gap from the target — any farther and it won't trigger reliably.
Deployment context
The stainless-steel housing and IP67 rating let this sensor survive washdown environments — food processing lines, packaging machinery with periodic hose-downs, or outdoor conveyor sections. The M5 barrel is small enough to fit into tight mounting brackets or drilled holes in guard plates. Flush-mount means it can be embedded in a metal surface without false-triggering from the surrounding material.
Electrical and switching limits
Operating voltage range is 10–30 VDC; the sensor draws 10 mA quiescent current and can sink up to 200 mA through the NPN output. The 3 kHz switching frequency is the maximum — actual usable speed depends on target size and material (ferrous metal gives the best repeatability). The 40 µm repeat accuracy tells you the sensor will trigger within that window on successive passes under stable conditions.
