The Festo SME-8-K5-LED-24 is a magnetic reed proximity sensor designed to clamp into T-slot pneumatic cylinders, detecting piston position via a magnetic field. It operates at 24 V DC with a normally open switching output, making it a direct-fit sensor for cylinder end-position sensing on automated lines.
Rated IP65 and IP67, the sensor body and cable entry resist washdown and dust ingress — suitable for food-and-bev lines or outdoor handling stations where hose-down cleaning is routine. The ambient operating temperature spans -40 to 70°C, which means it can ride a cylinder near a furnace or in a cold warehouse without derating. That range covers most mill-floor environments short of direct radiant heat. A 5 m cable is permanently attached, so the sensor is wired at the factory; no separate connector to source or seal. The housing is epoxy resin, PET, and PC — materials that hold up to oils and coolants common on a production floor.
