The Festo SME-8-SL-LED-24 is a magnetic reed proximity sensor designed for clamping into standard T-slots on pneumatic actuators. It switches a normally-open contact up to 500 mA at 10-30 V AC/DC, with a switching frequency of 500 Hz — sufficient for cycle-rate monitoring on most cylinder applications. The M8 3-pin connector mates directly to Festo sensor cables without additional adapters.
Mounting and environmental rating
Clamped in the T-slot, the sensor body is rated IP65 and IP67, so it withstands washdown and wet-area deployment on food-and-bev or packaging lines. The housing is epoxy resin, PC, and PET — no metal-to-metal contact with the cylinder profile.
