The Festo SMEO-1-LED-24-K5 is a magnetic reed proximity switch — a cylinder-mount sensor that detects the piston position in pneumatic actuators by sensing the magnet carried on the piston. It operates on 24 V DC with a normally open switching output, so the circuit closes when the magnet is within range and opens when it passes. The 2 ms switching time means it catches fast-moving cylinders without missing a stroke, even on short-stroke applications.
This switch mounts directly into the T-slot of Festo cylinder profiles — no brackets needed. The cable connection (5 m, by the K5 suffix) routes back to the PLC or valve-terminal input. Rated for -20 to 60 °C ambient, so it lives inside a cabinet or on the machine frame without issues.
