This FESTO SMT-8F-PS-24V-K0,3-M8D is a magneto-resistive proximity sensor built for cylinder position detection. It runs on 10–30 V DC and switches a PNP normally-open output — the standard signal for most PLC digital inputs. The 0.3 m pigtail ends in an M8 3-pin connector, so it mates directly to the sensor port on a Festo valve terminal or a standard M8 extension cable. Rated at 100 mA continuous, it handles the typical load of a small relay or indicator without breaking a sweat.
Compared to the SMT-8-PS-S-LED-24-B, which also uses a PNP normally-open output and 10–30 V DC supply, the SMT-8F-PS-24V-K0,3-M8D lacks the LED status indicator and has a tighter temperature range (-5 to 60°C vs -20 to 60°C). The SMT-8-PS-S-LED-24-B also carries a higher switching current (500 mA) and an IP65/IP67 enclosure rating. For a panel already wired for the SMT-8-PS-S-LED-24-B, the SMT-8F-PS-24V-K0,3-M8D will drop in electrically — same M8 3-pin connector, same PNP NO logic — but you lose the visual feedback and the wider environmental tolerance.
