The SOOD-BS-L-PN-30 is a background suppression optical sensor from the SOOD series, using a red laser emitter to detect objects at a fixed sensing distance of 7 mm minimum up to 30 mm maximum. Its push-pull output (light-ON or dark-ON selectable) drives up to 50 mA directly into a PLC input or relay. The 7.5 mm wide housing fits tight DIN-rail or bracket mounts; the M8 plug termination keeps wiring clean.
The 30 mm maximum sensing range is the key fit parameter — background suppression cuts false triggers on shiny or dark backgrounds behind the target, but the laser spot stays small, so alignment is tighter than an LED version. The 10–30 VDC supply covers 24 V nominal panels; push-pull output sinks or sources, so it mates with both sinking and sourcing PLC inputs without a pull-up resistor. IP65/IP67 lets it wash down in food or packaging lines, but the M8 connector needs a mating cordset rated for the same ingress.
Integration notes
The 7.5 mm width and 26 mm height match the SOOD family footprint, so a panel laid out for the SOOD-BS-L-PN-50 (same dimensions, 50 mm range) accepts this unit without re-drilling or re-wiring. The M8 plug is keyed to standard 3- or 4-pin cordsets; verify polarity on the push-pull output before powering up inductive loads.
