Sensor fit and sourcing note
The SOOD-BS-L-PN-80 is a background suppression optical sensor with a red laser emitter, rated for 80 mm maximum sensing distance and a minimum of 20 mm. The push-pull output works with both sourcing and sinking PLC inputs, and the M8 plug termination keeps wiring to a single connector. At 7.5 mm wide, it fits tightly packed DIN-rail or machine-mount layouts where every millimeter counts.
The 80 mm sensing distance is the maximum for a clean, non-reflective target; real-world range depends on target color and surface. The red laser provides a visible spot for alignment, useful in automated assembly or positioning stations. Supply voltage spans 10-30 V, so it runs on standard 24 VDC control power without a separate regulator. Load current is capped at 50 mA — enough to drive a PLC input or small relay directly, but not a contactor coil without an interposer.
The M8 plug mates with standard M8 cordsets; pinout follows the push-pull output scheme — confirm polarity with the datasheet before powering. IP65/IP67 means it handles washdown and dust in packaging or material-handling environments.
