The SOOD-BS-R-PN-80 is a background suppression optical sensor from the SOOD series, built for reliable object detection with a fixed sensing window that ignores reflective backgrounds beyond the set distance. It uses a red LED light source and a push-pull output, configurable for light-ON or dark-ON switching via the wiring. Sensing range runs from 15 mm minimum up to 80 mm maximum. That 80 mm reach covers most pick-and-place, packaging, and conveyor presence checks within a compact envelope. The 50 mA load current drives PLC inputs or small relays directly. Housed in a 7.5 mm wide body — that's a single slot on a standard DIN-rail terminal block footprint. Height is 26 mm, length 13.8 mm. Fits tight panels where every millimeter counts.
Where it goes and what it handles
Termination is via an M8 plug — common in compact sensors; mates with standard M8 cordsets. The IP65/IP67 rating means it handles washdown and dust ingress, so it's suited for food-and-bev lines, packaging cells, or any area where hoses and debris are part of the environment. Operating voltage range is 10 to 30 V.
