Laser through-beam for 10 m object presence
The Festo SOOD-TB-L-PN is a through-beam photoelectric sensor using a red laser light source, rated for a sensing distance of 10 m. The laser beam gives a narrow, collimated spot that stays on target over the full range — useful for small-part detection or alignment through dust and mist where a standard LED beam would scatter. Output is push-pull (PNP/NPN compatible) with a 50 mA load current, operating at 30 VDC. The switching behaviour is selectable between Light-ON and Dark-ON, so one sensor covers both normally-open and normally-closed logic without a separate model.
Panel fit and washdown tolerance
The body measures 7.5 mm wide by 26 mm high by 13.8 mm long — narrow enough to gang several sensors in a tight DIN-rail or machine-frame slot. The M8 plug termination means the sensor connects via a standard cordset; no need to open the housing for wiring. Rated IP65 and IP67, the sensor body and the M8 connector interface withstand washdown and temporary submersion. This suits food-and-beverage lines, car-wash bays, or outdoor conveyor systems where hose-down cleaning is routine.
