The SOOE-BS-R-PNLK-T is a background suppression optical sensor from Banner Engineering's SOOE series. It uses a red LED emitter and a push-pull output, rated for 100 mA load current over a 10–30 VDC supply range. The key spec for fit is the 350 mm sensing distance — that's the maximum range at which it reliably detects an object while ignoring a background beyond that point. Background suppression means it measures the angle of returned light, not just intensity, so a dark target at 300 mm won't false-trigger on a shiny reflector at 350 mm. That's the whole point of this class: consistent detection regardless of target color or reflectivity. The housing is 11 mm wide, 44.5 mm tall, and 21.5 mm deep, with an M8 plug termination. That 11 mm width is tight enough to fit between conveyor rollers or in a multi-sensor bank on a DIN-rail bracket. The M8 plug means a quick disconnect — no hardwiring into the panel, which saves time on swap-outs. The push-pull output works with both sourcing (PNP) and sinking (NPN) PLC inputs, so you don't need to match the input card type. Just wire it and set the switching mode via the light-on/dark-on selectable function.
Washdown and temperature range — the real-world envelope
The SOOE-BS-R-PNLK-T carries IP65, IP67, and IP69K ratings. IP69K means it withstands high-pressure, high-temperature washdown — the kind you find in food-and-beverage lines or chemical processing plants where the sensor gets sprayed directly.
