The Mitsubishi Electric FR-A840-37-1 is a 50 HP (37 kW) variable-frequency drive designed for three-phase induction motors on 380–500 VAC supply lines — the 400/415/480 V range covers most European and North American industrial mains. Its output frequency spans 0.2 to 590 Hz, which means it can run a standard 50/60 Hz motor across its full speed range and still have headroom for high-speed spindle applications up to 590 Hz without an external frequency doubler. The IP00 enclosure rating means this drive is intended for installation inside a panel or cabinet — it is not a stand-alone NEMA 1 or 4X unit, so the panel builder must provide the environmental seal and cooling airflow.
Fieldbus and analog feedback for process integration
Built-in Modbus RTU on RS-232/422/485 gives the drive a direct serial link to a PLC or SCADA host without an add-on communication card — the integrator can map speed setpoint, run/stop, and status registers over the same two-wire pair. A single analog output (0–10 VDC) is available for sending motor speed, output current, or DC bus voltage to a panel meter or remote display — useful for commissioning checks without opening the HMI screen.
