The Mitsubishi Electric FR-D740-050SC-EC is a 2.2 kW frequency inverter from the FR-D700 series, rated for 5 A output on a 3-phase 380–400 V supply. That power class puts it squarely on 2.2 kW four-pole induction motors for pumps, fans, and small conveyors — the most common motor size in light industrial panels. The 5 A output current is the figure you match to the motor nameplate FLA; oversizing by one frame is standard practice for headroom on starting torque.
Fieldbus and I/O
Built-in MODBUS RTU over RS485 at up to 19.2 kbps — no option card needed for basic PLC communication. The screw-terminal block accepts the daisy-chain wiring directly. Five digital inputs at 24 VDC handle start/stop, multi-speed presets, and fault reset; the single analogue input accepts 0–10 V, 0–5 V, or 0–20 mA signals for speed reference from a pot or PLC analogue output. One open-collector digital output and one relay change-over contact (rated 250 VAC) are available for run status, fault indication, or brake control.
Panel-mount design with screw terminals; the IP20 protection rating means it needs an enclosure in any area with dust or moisture — standard for a control cabinet. Dimensions are 128 mm high, 108 mm wide, 155.5 mm deep, which fits a typical 200 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring clearance below. The carrier frequency is adjustable from 2 kHz to 14.5 kHz; lower settings reduce heat dissipation in the drive, higher settings quiet the motor but increase derating above 40 °C ambient.
