The FX2N-48MT-001 uses transistor outputs; its sibling FX2N-48MR-ES/UL uses relay outputs. Transistor switching is faster (under 1 ms) and rated for higher cycle life, ideal for frequent on/off or PWM loads. Relay outputs handle higher AC inrush currents but wear mechanically over time.
Not without modifications. The MR-ES/UL uses relay outputs and includes a built-in 100–240 VAC power supply. The MT requires an external 24 VDC supply and uses transistor outputs. I/O count and form factor are similar, but power and load wiring must be adapted.
It is an MPU – main unit, the primary CPU module of the FX2N system.
