32 I/O main unit for legacy FX3U installs
The FX3U-32MT/ES-A is a Mitsubishi FX3U-series main unit with 32 I/O points — 16 digital inputs and 16 transistor outputs in a sink/source configuration. This is the third-generation FX3U platform, built for the installed base of Mitsubishi PLCs that still run production lines worldwide. Power supply accepts 100-240 VAC, so the same unit works across 120 V and 240 V line voltages without a transformer swap — one BOM line for global panel builds.
64K-step memory and resource budget
Program memory holds 64,000 steps — enough for medium-complexity sequential logic, motion sequences, and analog handling without cramming into a smaller frame. The 512 timers and 235 counters give the application headroom for multi-stage processes and production counting. Power draw is 35 W, which sets the thermal budget for the enclosure — a 35 W continuous load in a sealed cabinet needs ventilation or derating if ambient exceeds 55 °C. The integrated real-time clock includes 16 high-speed counters rated at 100 kHz, covering encoder feedback or fast pulse-train inputs without an add-on module.
Discontinued — sourcing for the installed base
No official successor order code is published. For a line running on FX3U hardware, the practical replacement path is either the FX5U series (different backplane and software — requires a program port) or holding a spare FX3U-32MT/ES-A in the cabinet. We source this unit through independent distribution channels; quantities are confirmed at RFQ against the BOM line.
