16-point I/O slice for MELSEC iQ-F
The FX5-16ER/ES is a 16-point I/O combined module in the MELSEC iQ-F series, packing 8 digital inputs and 8 relay outputs into a 40 mm wide slice that snaps onto the DIN rail next to the FX5U CPU. The relay outputs handle mixed AC/DC loads up to the contact rating — useful when you need to switch small motors, valves, or indicator lamps without an external interposer relay.
8 inputs, 8 relay outputs — what the channel count means for your BOM
Eight digital inputs sink 24 V DC field signals — enough for a bank of proximity sensors or limit switches on a pick-and-place station. Eight relay outputs give you isolation per channel and a common wiring scheme: one side of the load ties to the output common, the other to the field supply. Relay outputs tolerate inrush from small contactors or solenoid valves better than transistor outputs do. The module occupies 16 I/O points on the FX5U backplane — plan your addressing map accordingly; this slice uses two consecutive slot positions in the I/O allocation table.
