Powered I/O for the IQ-F Backplane
The FX5-32ET/ES is a self-contained powered I/O module in the MELSEC IQ-F series. It carries its own 100-240 V AC supply and provides 16 digital inputs configurable as sink or source, plus 16 transistor outputs wired for sink logic. The module occupies 32 I/O points on the PLC bus, expanding a local rack without needing a separate power-supply module.
Transistor vs. Relay — Choosing the Output Type
Within the same powered I/O form factor, the FX5-32ET/ES (transistor sink) and the FX5-32ER/ES (relay) share identical AC power, input count, and physical dimensions. The transistor output on this module switches faster and has no mechanical wear, making it the choice for high-cycle solenoid or indicator loads. The relay version handles higher AC currents and provides galvanic isolation; select FX5-32ER/ES when the output load is 240 V AC or requires a common neutral.
