What it is and what drives fit
The FX5U-80MT/ESS is a CPU module in the Mitsubishi MELSEC iQ-F family. It brings 40 digital inputs (24 V DC, configurable sink/source) and 40 transistor sourcing outputs in a single unit – enough for a mid-sized machine cell without an expansion rack. The 100-240 V AC power supply covers global line voltages, so no separate PSU module is needed for the CPU itself. Inputs are flexible: you can wire them sink or source, which simplifies panel wiring when mixing sensor types. A PNP prox? Wire source. NPN? Switch to sink. Same terminal block. That matters when you’re retrofitting a panel that was never laid out for a single wiring convention.
