What this servo motor brings to a small-axis build
The Mitsubishi HG-KN13BJ-S100 is a 0.1 kW servo motor from the HG-KN series, rated for 0.32 N·m continuous torque at 3000 r/min, with a maximum speed of 6000 r/min and an instantaneous permissible speed of 6900 r/min. That speed ceiling means it handles rapid indexing moves without overspeed faults — useful on pick-and-place or cam-follower axes where the load cycles through quick reversals. It carries an electromagnetic brake and an oil seal (the 'B' and 'J' in the model designation), so it holds position on a de-energized axis and keeps lubricants out of the motor bearings. The IP65 totally-enclosed, naturally-cooled housing means it survives washdown spray and airborne dust on a food-grade or machine-tool line — no forced cooling required, but derate if you box it into a non-ventilated enclosure above 40 °C ambient.
Sizing and load-matching note
The recommended load-to-motor inertia ratio is 15 times or less. That is a relatively forgiving window — many servo motors in this power class cap at 10:1 — so the HG-KN13BJ-S100 can drive a moderately geared or belted load without needing a larger frame just to absorb reflected inertia. The power rate at continuous rated torque is 12.0 kW/s, which tells you how fast it can accelerate the reflected inertia it's rated for; a lower power rate means a slower torque rise, so if your cycle needs a fast index, match the load inertia to stay inside that 15:1 boundary.
Ambient operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C, non-condensing, indoors only.
