What it is and what it does
The Mitsubishi HG-SN152J-S100 is a 1.5 kW servo motor from the HG-SN series, delivering 7.16 N·m of rated torque at 2000 r/min and capable of 3000 r/min maximum. It carries an IP67 rating with a totally enclosed, natural-cooling structure, so it stands up to washdown environments and airborne particulates without forced ventilation. The motor draws 9.4 A rated current and peaks at 29 A for acceleration profiles. Insulation class 155 (F) gives good thermal margin for continuous duty at the rated torque, and the V10 vibration rank keeps encoder feedback clean on high-speed applications.
Environmental constraints – altitude and ambience
Rated for installation at altitudes up to 2000 m above sea level. The ambience requirements are strict: indoors, no direct sunlight, free from corrosive gas, flammable gas, oil mist, dust, and dirt. The IP67 enclosure handles splashed water and dust ingress, but the motor itself isn't sealed against chemical vapors. If there's solvent fumes or cutting oil mist in your cabinet, the motor's winding insulation and bearing seals won't tolerate long-term exposure. Operating temperature range is 0 °C to 40 °C (non-freezing), storage -15 °C to 70 °C. Condensation must be avoided – the IP67 rating stops liquid ingress but doesn't prevent internal condensation if the motor cycles between a cold start and warm operation. A breather drain is not fitted; you may need to add one for outdoor enclosures.
Integration notes – inertia and load matching
The recommended load-to-motor inertia ratio is 15 times or less. That's a generous margin compared to many servo motors (often limit at 10:1), but it's still a hard ceiling for stable tuning. Exceeding this ratio forces lowered gains, which degrades settling time and following error. For high-performance positioning, keeping the ratio under 10:1 gives better servo stiffness. Vibration resistance is X, Y: 24.5 m/s². The motor has an oil seal installed (noted in the model designation suffix J). This protects the shaft output in gearbox or direct-drive applications where lubricant mist could enter the motor. No additional external seal required for most standard applications.
