Drive selection memo — MR-J4-100B
The Mitsubishi MR-J4-100B is a 1 kW servo amplifier in the MELSERVO-J4 series, rated for 200V class input (three-phase or single-phase AC 200 V to 240 V, 50/60 Hz) and delivering a continuous output current of 6.0 A at three-phase AC 170 V. It communicates over SSCNET III/H at selectable cycle times of 0.222 ms, 0.444 ms, or 0.888 ms, which sets the position-loop update rate for the motion bus. The built-in dynamic brake stops the motor shaft on a servo-off or fault condition without an external braking resistor for most inertial loads within the 1 kW rating. Functional safety is covered by STO (Safe Torque Off) per IEC/EN 61800-5-2, with a response time of 8 ms or less from STO input off to energy cutoff and a diagnostic coverage (DC) of 97.6% (medium).
Panel integration & wiring
IP20 open-frame construction means the amplifier is intended for enclosure mounting with cooling airflow. The main circuit draws 5.0 A rated input current; the control circuit pulls 0.2 A from the DC 24 V ±10% interface supply (0.3 A including the CN8 connector signal). Two analog monitor channels are available for outputting velocity, torque, or position signals to a scope or PLC analog input. The encoder interface uses Mitsubishi high-speed serial communication; encoder output pulses (ABZ phase) are available for external position feedback or master-slave gearing.

The amplifier is designed for indoor use only, at altitudes up to 2000 m, in atmospheres free of corrosive gas, inflammable gas, oil mist, and dust. Vibration tolerance is 5.9 m/s² from 10 Hz to 55 Hz in X, Y, Z directions.
