What the SSCNETIII/H protocol means for integration
SSCNETIII/H is a deterministic, 1 Gbps fiber-optic motion bus. It replaces traditional pulse-train or analog command interfaces with a single cable that carries position, speed, torque, and status data between the controller and up to 256 drives. The MR-J4-700AB accepts commands directly from a Mitsubishi motion CPU (Q series, L series, or iQ-R) without an additional interface module. For retrofit or multi-vendor lines, note that SSCNETIII/H is a closed protocol — the drive will not accept step/direction or analog inputs natively.
Panel fit and wiring notes
The MR-J4-700AB is a frame D drive (typical for the 7 kW class). It requires a 3-phase 200–240 VAC or 380–480 VAC supply depending on the specific input voltage variant — verify the nameplate before wiring. The main circuit power terminals accept up to 14 mm² conductors. A built-in regenerative resistor is standard for moderate deceleration loads; for high-inertia or vertical axes, an external regenerative resistor is recommended and connects to terminals P+ and C. The drive occupies roughly 3.5 inches of panel width and should be mounted with at least 50 mm of clearance above and below for airflow.
