Processor for the MELSEC Q rack
The Q01CPU is the rack-mounted CPU in the MELSEC Q series. Its 94 kB memory and 56 kB program capacity set the application envelope for medium-scale automation tasks. Programming is via RS232C using GX Works2 or an operating panel.
Memory and program sizing
With 94 kB total memory and 56 kB dedicated to program capacity, the Q01CPU fits control sequences of several thousand steps—enough for a machine cell or a small line. Exceeding that means stepping up to the Q02 or Q06 series.
I/O handling architecture
The CPU processes analogue and digital signals, but field wiring connects through separate I/O modules on the backplane. No built-in I/O on the CPU itself—plan for a rack with input and output modules matching your signal types.
