Product details

8 analog channels per slot, 16-bit resolution

The Q68ADI packs eight analog input channels into a single Q Series slot, each with 16-bit binary resolution. That's one part number covering eight process-variable inputs — temperature, pressure, flow, level — on a 4-20 mA loop.

Backplane power and slot budget

The module draws 640 mA from the 5 VDC backplane rail. In a fully loaded Q Series rack with a QCPU, power supply, and several I/O slices, that draw adds up — check the power module's 5 V capacity before committing the slot. Occupied I/O points on the PLC are 16, even though the module has only 8 physical channels. That's the Q Series addressing convention — each analog channel reserves two points in the I/O map. Plan the addressing accordingly in GX Works.

Field wiring without a breakout board

All field connections land on an 18-screw terminal block fitted to the module face. No separate breakout board, no D-sub cable — just strip, terminate, and torque. The terminal block is captive to the module, so a pulled wire doesn't lose the connector.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Q68ADI used for?

It converts 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA analog signals from field transmitters (pressure, temperature, flow, level) into 16-bit digital values readable by the Q Series PLC CPU over the backplane.

Can the Q68ADI replace an FX5-8EX/ES?

No. The FX5-8EX/ES is a DC digital input module for the MELSEC iQ-F series — it reads 24 V on/off signals, not analog current loops. The Q68ADI is an analog input module for the Q Series rack. They are not electrically or mechanically interchangeable.
