The Omron 3G3RX2-B4900 is an RX2 Series high-performance inverter rated for 120 HP constant-torque loads at 176 A on a 480 VAC 3-phase supply. It delivers a speed range from 0.01 Hz to 400 Hz with V/f, sensorless vector, and closed-loop vector control modes.
The 176 A constant-torque rating (120 HP) is the drive's continuous output at full load — sized for a 120 HP induction motor on a conveyor, pump, or fan that demands full torque across the speed range. The 0.01 Hz minimum frequency means it can crawl a load at near-zero speed for positioning or jogging, while the 400 Hz top end suits high-speed spindles or centrifuge drives. Three control modes cover the spectrum: V/f for simple fan/pump applications, sensorless vector for general-purpose torque control without an encoder, and closed-loop vector for precision speed/position regulation with an encoder feedback card. Vertical mounting is specified — the drive must be oriented with its heatsink fins vertical for natural convection cooling. Installing it horizontally or flat will derate the output current; in a packed enclosure, leave the minimum clearance above and below per the manual to avoid nuisance over-temperature trips.
This inverter is designed for panel mounting in industrial control cabinets. The 480 VAC 3-phase input ties directly to a motor branch circuit; the built-in Modbus RTU port connects to a PLC or SCADA for speed reference and status monitoring without an extra gateway. The flow-chart logic programming allows simple sequence control (e.g., start/stop ramps, jog, fault reset) directly in the drive, reducing the PLC I/O count for standalone applications.
