11 kW VFD for 400 V class motors
The Omron 3G3RX2A4110 is an RX2-series AC drive rated for 11 kW output power with 25 A continuous current, designed for 3-phase 380-500 VAC input supplies — the standard 400 V industrial bus. This puts it in the sweet spot for powering 15 HP (11 kW) induction motors on pumps, fans, conveyors, and compressors in a panel environment.
Output frequency and carrier tuning
Output frequency spans 0 to 590 Hz, so the drive handles both standard 50/60 Hz motors and higher-speed spindles up to ~35,000 RPM (2-pole). The carrier (switching) frequency is adjustable from 500 Hz to 16 kHz — running at 16 kHz quiets audible motor whine but derates continuous output current; at 4 kHz the drive delivers full rated current with no thermal penalty. The RS-485 port supports Modbus RTU for PLC or SCADA integration, while the USB port (type mini-B) gives direct PC connection for drive setup and monitoring via Omron's CX-Drive software. No separate comms adapter needed for commissioning. Built-in analog inputs (0-10 V and 0-20 mA) accept speed reference from a potentiometer, 4-20 mA transducer, or analog output card. The relay output (2 A at 250 VAC) can signal drive fault, run status, or speed threshold to the control system.
Panel mounting and thermal limits
The drive is wall-mount with dimensions 260 mm high x 210 mm wide x 170 mm deep — it bolts directly to the backplate of an IP54 or higher enclosure. IP20 protection means the electronics are touch-safe but not sealed against dust or condensation, so an enclosure is required for washdown or outdoor locations. Ambient temperature range is -10 to 50 °C. In a sealed panel at 40 °C ambient, the drive's internal fan moves enough air to run full-rated current; above 40 °C, derating applies per the datasheet curves. The plug-in terminal blocks simplify wiring and replacement without removing the main power wires.
