64K words, 5000 steps — the entry-level CJ2M CPU
The Omron CJ2M-CPU11 is the base CPU in the CJ2M series, built for machine control applications that need deterministic scan cycles and a compact DIN-rail footprint. It carries 64K words of program memory and 5000 steps of logic capacity — enough for mid-size sequencing, motion coordination over the CJ-series backplane, and fieldbus master functions via an optional communications module. Two built-in serial ports — RS-232C and USB — give the integrator a direct programming connection and a Modbus-RTU or serial-peripheral link without an extra slot card. The USB port is the primary CX-One programming channel; the RS-232C port can talk to an HMI, a barcode scanner, or a drive string.
Expansion ceiling and battery-backed retentive memory
The CJ2M-CPU11 supports up to 40 expansion modules across three racks — that covers a full I/O complement plus specialty slices (temperature, positioning, serial, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT) without hitting the backplane power budget. The battery backup holds the program and retentive data through power cycles; the battery is user-replaceable and the CPU flags a low-battery alarm on the CX-One diagnostics screen.
Active lifecycle and approvals — no end-of-line risk
