Integrator's terse spec recap
The CP1E-N20DR-A is a non-expandable PLC with 12 digital inputs and 8 relay outputs, powered by 100-240 VAC. Memory is 8K Words, programmed via CX-One software. Communications are RS-232C only — no Ethernet or fieldbus onboard. Battery backup retains the program during power loss.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
This part is discontinued per Omron's lifecycle status. There is no official successor listed in the evidence. Sourcing is limited to surplus or broker channels — expect to submit an RFQ for availability and lead time. The CP1E series is end-of-life, so plan for a migration path if you need long-term support.
Delta: CP1E-N20DR-A vs CP1E-N20DT-A
The only difference between the CP1E-N20DR-A and the CP1E-N20DT-A is the output type: relay vs solid state. Both have 12 digital inputs, 8 outputs, 100-240 VAC supply, 8K Words memory, RS-232C, and are non-expandable. The relay outputs on the -DR handle higher inrush currents (e.g., motor starters, solenoids) but have a finite mechanical life; the solid-state outputs on the -DT switch faster and last longer in high-cycle applications. Panel wiring is identical — same footprint, same terminal assignments.
Mounting and integration notes
Mounts on DIN rail or chassis. Weight is 0.816 lb (370.13 g). The RS-232C port connects to a programming terminal or HMI; no Ethernet port for direct network integration. The non-expandable form factor means all I/O is fixed — plan your I/O count before ordering. Approved for CE, cULus, Lloyd, and NK marine applications.
