Compact 24-input PLC with relay outputs
The CP1L-M40DR-D is a compact PLC in the CP1L series, packing 24 digital inputs and 16 relay outputs on a 24 VDC supply. It mounts on a DIN rail or chassis, supports up to three expansion modules, and retains program memory with a backup battery. The 32K-word memory and CX-One software environment are standard across the CP1L family.
Relay vs transistor output siblings
For the same 24-input, 24 VDC platform, Omron offers two solid-state transistor output variants: CP1L-M40DT1-D and CP1L-M40DT-D (both 16 transistor outputs). The relay output on this model switches AC or DC loads at higher current capability than the transistor outputs, which are better suited for high-speed DC loads. Panel wiring and mounting are identical across all three. If the BOM was built around CP1L-M40DT1-D, this unit is a drop-in only if the downstream loads are compatible with relay switching (lower speed, higher inrush).
