What it is and what it does
The Omron CP1W-40EDR is a mixed I/O module that packs 24 digital inputs and 16 relay outputs onto a single DIN-rail unit. It's designed for Omron CP1 and CJ series PLCs, letting you add both sensing and switching capacity without a separate input card. Screw terminals make field wiring straightforward. The module carries CE, Lloyd's Register, and Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK) approvals, covering industrial and marine installations.
How it compares to CP1W-32ET
The CP1W-32ET is an output-only module with 32 solid-state outputs. The 40EDR replaces that with a balanced I/O mix: 24 inputs and 16 relay outputs. If your panel needs both input sensing and relay-level switching, the 40EDR avoids dedicating two separate cards. The relay outputs handle higher surge currents than solid-state, but at a slower switching speed — choose based on your load type.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on DIN rail with screw terminations for each point. Compatible with the CP1 series backplane and can also be used with CJ series rack expansions. When wiring, keep the relay output common rail separate from input commons to avoid cross-talk on shared returns.
