The Omron D4GS-N2T-3 is a slim safety door switch with two normally-closed (2NC) slow-action contacts built in. The 2NC configuration is the standard fail-safe arrangement for guard interlocking: both contacts open when the door opens, and if one welds shut the other still breaks the circuit, meeting the redundancy requirement for safety circuits up to PL d / SIL 2 per EN ISO 13849-1. The slow-action contacts are mechanically linked to the actuator, so they open at a defined point in the key travel — no bounce, no ambiguity about when the guard is actually open. Rated conventional free air thermal current (Ith) is 2.5 A per EN60947-5-1, which is the continuous current the contacts can carry in free air without exceeding temperature rise limits. Operating speed is specified at 0.1 to 0.5 m/s; outside that range the contacts may not open cleanly, so the door speed matters for reliable interlocking. The 3 m cable is factory-molded, saving a wiring step in the panel. Vertical key insertion (T-direction) means the actuator enters from above, which suits doors that slide or lift rather than hinge. Maximum operating frequency is 30 operations per minute — fine for a guard door cycled a few times per shift, but not for a high-speed access gate.
This switch is for safety-guard interlocking on machinery — access doors on conveyor tunnels, robot cells, packaging machines, or press guards. The slim body saves DIN rail or panel space compared to a standard safety switch.
