The Omron D4SL-N2NFA-D is a safety door electromagnetic lock switch — a guard-locking device that combines a mechanical lock with a 24 VDC solenoid release. It is designed to physically prevent a machine guard from opening until the solenoid is energized, which is the standard sequence for controlled access to hazardous zones. The built-in switch configuration is 2NC/1NO + 2NC/1NO, giving two independent safety channels (each with two normally-closed contacts) plus two auxiliary normally-open contacts for status feedback. This dual-channel layout meets the redundancy requirement for safety circuits up to PL d / SIL 3 when wired correctly. The AC-15 rating of 5 A at 120 V ac covers the inductive load of contactor coils and solenoid valves commonly switched in control circuits. The DC-13 rating of 22 A at 125 V dc handles the heavier inrush of DC solenoid loads — a figure that matters when the same switch controls the lock solenoid itself or other DC actuators.
Installation and integration notes
Conduit entry is G1/2, a standard metric thread for cable glands. The resin head and resin special release key are non-sparking and corrosion-resistant, suited for environments where metal-to-metal contact is undesirable — food processing or chemical washdown areas, for instance. The orange LED indicator on the 24 VDC variant gives a quick visual check that the solenoid is powered and the lock is released. In a multi-door line, this saves walking each door to confirm the lock state.
