Guard locking switch with 1300 N holding force
The Omron D4SL-N4RDG-D4 is a guard locking switch from the D4SL-N series, designed for safety interlock applications where a monitored guard door must stay locked until safe conditions are confirmed. It delivers a holding force of 1300 N — enough to resist forced opening on heavy access doors or guards on automated cells, conveyors, and packaging machinery. The solenoid operates at 24 VDC, and the switch provides 6 contacts in a 3 NC + 3 NC configuration, giving redundant feedback to the safety controller. The metal head and M20 conduit entry suit industrial environments where mechanical impact and cable routing through standard metric fittings are expected. The orange indicator at 24 VDC gives a clear visual status of the solenoid state — energized or de-energized — for quick troubleshooting on the line. Connection is via terminal block, and the special release key (resin) allows manual override when power is removed, a requirement for maintenance access without defeating the safety circuit.
Integration notes
Mount the switch on the fixed frame of the guard door, aligning the actuator with the door-mounted cam. The M20 conduit entry accepts standard metric cable glands; route the 24 VDC solenoid supply and the six contact wires through the same entry. Terminal block wiring inside the switch body — strip length per the manufacturer's instruction, typically 7–8 mm. The orange indicator is visible from the side of the switch head, so orient the switch so the indicator faces the operator's line of sight.
