The E2A-S08LS02-M1-C2: M8 flush-mount inductive proximity sensor, 2 mm shielded range. Stainless steel barrel handles washdown and machining environments where brass or plastic would erode. Switched output is NC (normally closed) NPN open collector. Wire the M12 4-pin connector per standard OMRON pinout; verify load current stays under the device rating. Coil voltage is 12–24 VDC; ripple tolerance typical for 24 V industrial supplies. Keep the sensing face free of ferrous build-up; stainless housing won't rust but metal fines can bridge to the active face.
